Have you been to the Panggong Negara?

Completed in 1963, it was the first and largest national theatre in Singapore. With a capacity of 3,420 seats, the much-loved theatre hosted major regional and international performances for more than 2 decades before it was demolished in 1986.

In celebration of what would be the theatre’s 60th Anniversary since opening, I created a sculpture to be presented at the inaugural edition of ART SG, 2023.

Inspired by intimate stories and personal memories, the sculpture features the theatre’s iconic 5 diamond shaped facade, framing vivid colours of red and blue.
